Marvelous Missions and Mite Dollars
Last week, LWML sent a check for $25,000 for Grant #5, Cancer Care Package Ministry, bringing the total to $75,000 provided for that grant this biennium. Their report states, "The money received from our LWML grant has been such a blessing in providing the resources needed for the care packages that we send to cancer patients. We are currently following up with over 900 patients in 48 states and five countries around the world."
Grant # 13, Project JOEL–Outreach to Youth–Central/South America reports, "Funds have been distributed to the Lutheran Hour Ministry Centers in Nicaragua, Mexico, and Panama. Through Project JOEL the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been shared, as well as giving practical information to young people, based on biblical principles regarding drug and alcohol abuse, violence, and promiscuity."
Grant # 17, Haskell Indian Nations University Lutheran Campus Ministry Expansion–Lawrence, Kansas, reports, "A van was purchased for $26,000 to transport students to servant events, outreach activities, and Christian growth and enrichment opportunities. Notice the van is filled to the brim with more than 250 snack food bags for students, received at an ingathering from the Kansas LWML. Pilamaya! ('Thank you' in Sioux)."
With our prayers and mite dollars we continue to support these ministries and gather the amount needed to pay these grants in full.

Verse of the Day
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ~1 John 4:10
On the Spot
Her pastor said, “So, tell me about this LWML. I’ve only heard bits and pieces about it. Why do you spend so much time on it?” She had stopped in for his signature on her nomination form and his question stopped her in her tracks. She stammered something about mites and missions, thanked him for his signature, and then hurried out of the office.
On the drive home, she replayed the scene in her mind. Why hadn’t she been better prepared to describe the work of LWML? She was passionate about the impact of the beloved women’s auxiliary of the LCMS. She vowed to be ready at the next opportunity. She would share her commitment to the mission of “assisting each woman of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.”
Every description will be unique to the individual sharing it. What would you say? For help, go to the “Who We Are” tab to the right of this page.
